US Airways and Spanair expand customer choice
Customers of US Airways (NYSE: LCC) and Spain’s Spanair will soon enjoy greater access to destinations within Spain, the Canary Islands, continental Europe and Africa, thanks to a major expansion of a bilateral codeshare agreement between the two Star Alliance carriers.

The additional flying will be available for purchase at usairways.com or by calling 1-800-428-4322 beginning June 26. First day of operations will be June 30.

Customers of both carriers can also expect the same convenient single-source booking, ticketing and baggage connections as with all codeshare flying. By way of Spanair’s Madrid and Barcelona hubs, US Airways customers will have seamless access to the following destinations:

Additionally, US Airways customers can access Barcelona in the off-season via Spanair from Madrid when US Airways service goes on winter hiatus. The airline has served Madrid and Barcelona (seasonally) from its hub and international gateway at Philadelphia International Airport since 1996 and 2005 respectively. US Airways and Spanair began initial cooperation in late 2003 involving four Spanish destinations.

US Airways’ Senior Vice President, Marketing and Planning Andrew Nocella said, “We’re pleased to continue our codeshare building campaign into 2010 by expanding our relationship with Spanair. This opens up the paradise of the Canary Islands, the grandeur of Bilbao and the scenery of Valencia just to name a few.”

US Airways, along with US Airways Shuttle and US Airways Express, operates more than 3,200 flights per day and serves more than 200 communities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Central and South America.
