Qatar Airways and Lufthansa Systems co-operate in IT

In order to be cost-effective and optimise processes, Qatar Airways has chosen IT solutions from Lufthansa Systems for its codeshare management and ticketing of staff travel on other airlines. Lufthansa Systems has successfully implemented its SchedConnect codeshare management solution at Qatar Airways. The Doha-based carrier and Lufthansa Systems signed a contract to this effect. With SchedConnect, Qatar Airways is able to optimise its codeshare management and thus reduce costs and increase revenues.

SchedConnect is the most advanced system of its kind available today and offers a high degree of automation. Each day, it calculates the optimum codeshare assignments based on current flight schedules. The system processes up to 40 million schedule changes every month. If a minimum connecting time is violated due to a schedule change or if a partner flight is cancelled, SchedConnect automatically assigns the marketing flight number to another suitable connecting flight. Changes are sent through the reservation systems to travel agents and customers, as well as to the operations and passenger-related systems of the airlines involved.

For the booking and ticketing of their duty and private staff travel on other Airlines, Qatar Airways has opted for the integrated IT solution, myIDTravel from Lufthansa Systems. Both companies recently signed a five-year-contract. myIDTravel enables airlines to issue electronic tickets for ID travellers on other airlines and to reduce costs by optimising processes.

myIDTravel can be integrated into the system environment of any airline and covers the large number of bilateral agreements between airlines. Through interline e-ticketing, the integration of self-service functions and a high level of automation, airlines can optimize their ID travel management. myIDTravel especially simplifies multi-leg trips since employees can execute all steps of the booking process in one system. They can check the availability of flights on participating airlines and create, edit and cancel bookings or listings at any time.
