Austrian Airlines expands Summer Schedule 2008

Austrian Airlines announced it is expanding its services in the Summer Schedule 2008, effective from 30-Mar-08, with the addition of five new routes to the cities of Sochi and Nizhny Novgorod in Russia, Riyadh and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, and Baia Mare in Romania. The route network expansion will be complemented by frequency increases to 39 existing destinations in the short-, medium- and long-haul routes.

 

More services to the European Union

Destinations in the European Union will also feature more prominently in the new schedule, with Venice gaining seven extra connecting services to Vienna a week, while Athens gain see four additional services. Austrian will also increase its schedule to Naples with two extra connections a week. One additional service a week will operate to Berlin, Verona and Thessaloniki.

Greater presence in Middle East market

After a several month long time-out, scheduled services to Erbil in Iraq will operate again three times a week from 01-Apr-08 onwards and four times a week from Jun-08. The summer schedule will feature three extra connections to Istanbul and Larnaca.

Two additional flights will take off to Cairo, Damascus and Tehran. After the summer increases, the schedule to Ankara will gain one extra service a week. The number of services to Dubai will double from 13-Nov-08.

Long-haul schedule also increases

Austrian long-haul routes will also be increased in the Summer Schedule, with daily services to Toronto, Beijing and New York, with Chicago served by six services a week.
