Lufthansa Cargo posts growth in cargo volume and capacity utilisation

Lufthansa Cargo posted growth in terms of cargo volume and capacity utilisation in 1Q08. The Lufthansa subsidiary transported 429,000 tonnes of freight and mail, an increase of 0.4% year-on-year. The cargo load factor rose to 69.5%.

 

Meanwhile, in 1Q08, Lufthansa carried a record number of passengers. Passenger numbers rose by 5.5% to 13 million. During the same period, available capacity was increased by 5.5%. Revenue seat-kilometres increased 5.9%, lifting the passenger load factor by 0.2 ppts to 77.2%. Passenger numbers were up in all traffic regions.
 
In addition, in 1Q08, the Lufthansa Group airlines carried a total of 16 million passengers. This represents a year-on-year increase of about 30%. The number of flights operated by Lufthansa Group airlines rose to 195,625, representing a 20% growth.
