Malév confirmed it has passed the global airline industry’s benchmark operational safety audit. As a consequence, the auditing organisation, IATA, has renewed the company’s IOSA registration for a further two years.

Malév first joined the IATA IOSA registered airlines list in 2006 when the Hungarian national carrier was first listed among IOSA-compliant airlines after an audit that it completed with similar results. The certificate records that Malév belongs among those airlines recognised and certified as providing secure and quality services.

The audit conducted by IATA this year contained 230 new criteria, taking the total number of elements examined to 920. The international auditors found 16 elements needing modification across the entire Malév operational area.

The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Programme is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline. IOSA uses internationally recognised quality audit principles, and is designed so that audits are conducted in a standardised and consistent manner. The aim of the programme is maximization of quality and improving the security and cost-efficiency of the industry.

At present the IOSA registry lists 199 airlines worldwide.
