SAS announced plans to add a fuel surcharge on domestic and European services, effective immediately, to mitigate rising fuel costs (Reuters, 07-May-08). SAS will add a EUR10 charge to domestic services in Sweden and Denmark and an EUR8 charge on services to Norway. On other European services, a EUR15 charge will be implemented.
SAS: “It’s a part of our job to raise revenue, which we explained when we presented our quarterly report. The entire industry is doing this now. Certain companies are raising prices without telling people,” Sture Stölen, Head of SAS Investor Relations. Source: thelocal.s, 07-May-08.
