British Airways aware of New Terminal 5 problems before the launch

However, Mr Walsh stated delaying the launch of the terminal would have cost BA significantly more than the losses it had incurred to date.

British Airways: “The training programme was not sufficient. The environment was a building which was not fully complete - a building different from that entered on day one…The cost to BA would have been significantly greater than the costs incurred by the disruption, by many times…We believed that, while there were known risks, the opening would be successful,” CEO, Willie Walsh.
