Delta Air Lines stated it is in the process of closing nine of its airport VIP lounges in the UK, US, the Caribbean and South America, citing the need to manage costs due to high fuel prices (AP, 08-May-08).

The locations Delta slated for closure in Apr-08 and May-08 are at airports serving London, Boston, Cincinnati, Kansas City, Seattle, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Phoenix, Denver and Honolulu. Most of those airports had multiple Crown Room Clubs and will retain at least one location. The airline also revealed that its BusinessElite lounges at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and New York JFK International Airport are to be converted into Crown Room Clubs.
