Finnair Technical Services and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines have signed a contract covering nine scheduled C-checks for Boeing MD-11 passenger aircraft. Each maintenance visit will last approximately one week, the last one will be completed by 3-Jul-08.
KLM’s MD-11 fleet consists of 10 passenger aircraft.
Arne Ziessler, Sales Manager at Finnair Technical Services, said, “Our cooperation with KLM began in 2006, when Finnair Technical Services performed similar C checks on KLM Boeing MD11 aircraft.”
Finnair Technical Services’ goal is to be a significant, high quality MRO in MD-11 business also in the future, providing services to third party customers. Technical Services' annual turnover is over 200 million euros, of which approximately 25 per cent comes from customers outside Finnair Group. Due to Finnair's fleet modernisation, the share of work coming from inside the Group will decrease in coming years. During the process, Technical Services can make use of its resources and know-how more efficiently with agreements outside the Group. Third party cooperation also enables Finnair to build and maintain new capabilities. Finnair will replace its MD-11 passenger aircraft fleet with Airbus A340s and A330s by spring 2010, which will be the future aircraft fleet on long-haul traffic.
