Malév stated it is boosting its capacity by 30% on 20-May-08 because of increased demand from customers travelling to the final of the Champions League in Moscow. The airline is despatching its highest capacity B737-800 aircraft to Domodedovo Airport in the Russian capital. The opportunity to attend the final has been considerably assisted by the decision of Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, issued on 14-May-08 waiving visa requirements for foreign supporters going to the final of the Champions League in Moscow on 21-May-08.

Supporters (any foreign person) can travel to Moscow and stay in the country between 17-25 May without a visa upon presentation of an original ticket for the match and a valid passport. This also applies for all people travelling with Malév from Budapest for the soccer match in Moscow.

Huge numbers of fans from Great Britain are travelling out to Moscow to watch the clash between Manchester United and Chelsea on 21 May. It has been estimated that about 250 aircraft will be needed to move all the supporters.

If demand warrants such a move Malév is ready to switch high-capacity aircraft onto the Moscow route on other days as well.
