UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways and Qantas Airways announced (18-Dec-08) that after detailed discussions about a potential merger, talks have ended. Despite the potential longer term benefits to both British Airways and Qantas, the airlines have not been able to come to agreement over the key terms of a merger at this time.

UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways World Cargo has announced (15-Dec-08) a reduction to its fuel surcharge. The surcharge will be GBP0.44 / USD0.65 / EUR0.65 with effect from 29-Dec-08. This reduction follows a continued fall in the price of fuel.

UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways has commenced (07-Dec-08) operations to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad. The new route provides a direct flight from Hyderabad to London Heathrow Terminal 5 and offers connections to 22 destinations in North America.

UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways World Cargo announced (05-Dec-08) it will resume services to Saudi Arabia with the launch of five weekly flights to Jeddah and five weekly flights to Riyadh, from 29-Mar-09. This will be the first time the carrier has operated Saudi flights after suspending its services to the country in Mar-05 in response to reduced customer demand.

UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways announced (26-Nov-08) to resume flights from Riyadh and Jeddah to London Heathrow from 29-Mar-09. The airline will fly five times each week from both Riyadh and Jeddah to Heathrow Terminal 5. Flights to Riyadh will operate on a Boeing 777 and Jeddah flights will be on a Boeing 767.
