HUNGARY : Malev's announced its very first Q400 turboprop, tail number HA-LQA, landed at Budapest Ferihegy airport on 27-Nov-08, at 00.30 hours. The arrival follows a technical and official inspection and technical flight.

HUNGARY : Malev's new marketing campaign - 'Fly for a Festive Fare', was launched on 17- Nov-08. Specially discounted airfares can be picked up from before the end-of-year holidays right through to 20-Dec-08, for travel between 14-Jan to 28-Mar-09.

HUNGARY : The Malev winter timetable will come into effect on 26-Oct-08. Over the course of the winter schedule period Malev operates an average weekly 441, daily 63 scheduled services. At this time the national carrier links the Hungarian capital with 47 cities in 33 countries, and together with its code-share partners 66 cities in 36 countries.

HUNGARY : Malév announced the introduction of web check-in. This new service, using the technology of aviation IT specialist SITA, enables Malév passengers departing from Budapest Ferihegy airport to check-in quickly and easily from anywhere, avoiding queues and speeding their journey through the airport.

HUNGARY : Malev announced (12-Sep-08) plans to reduce capacity by 6% year-on-year under its new Winter Schedule, effective 26-Oct-08. The carrier will withdraw two B767s and five B737s from service over the period and introduce three 72-seat Q400s to its fleet.

HUNGARY : The Malév winter timetable has been finalised and published in the reservations systems. All the traditional winter destinations will continue to be accessible with Malév aircraft, while both the timetable and available capacity will be even better adjusted to the requirements of the travelling public and typical travel patterns.

HUNGARY : Agreements drawn up between Vnyeseconombank (VEB) and AirBridge, as well as between AirBridge and Malév, on the financing of the restructuring of the Hungarian national carrier were signed on 04-Sept-08. As a result, the airline receives access to a financial resource totalling EUR30 million.

HUNGARY : In response to the rising cost of oil and as a result of the general world economic slowdown, Malév intends to concentrate its capacity and resources on the European network in future, in the process strengthening its regional market position.

HUNGARY : In response to the latest challenges of the air industry, Malév is restructuring the fleet in order to reinforce its regional market position. Accordingly, the company is gradually upgrading its regional fleet with Q400 turboprops manufactured by plane-maker Bombardier Aerospace.

HUNGARY : Malév, the Hungarian national airline, resumed scheduled flights between Toronto and Budapest on 26 May. The direct Toronto-Budapest route is covered by two-class, 229-seat Boeing 767-300ER type aircraft operating five times a week.
