Malév stated it is boosting its capacity by 30% on 20-May-08 because of increased demand from customers travelling to the final of the Champions League in Moscow. The airline is despatching its highest capacity B737-800 aircraft to Domodedovo Airport in the Russian capital. The opportunity to attend the final has been considerably assisted by the decision of Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, issued on 14-May-08 waiving visa requirements for foreign supporters going to the final of the Champions League in Moscow on 21-May-08.

Malév confirmed it has passed the global airline industry’s benchmark operational safety audit. As a consequence, the auditing organisation, IATA, has renewed the company’s IOSA registration for a further two years.

Malév and Hungarian Post renewed an air cargo contract of coordinated and close cooperation on the back of a forecast of 1,000 tonnes of Hungarian Post mail deliveries in 2008. This tonnage is a 10% increase on the quantity delivered in 2007.

Following less than two months of negotiations, the management of Malév Hungarian Airlines and the five representative trade unions of the airline came to agreement and concluded the terms of the new Collective Contract on 28-Mar-08. The new Collective Contract was signed on 02-Apr-08.

Malév switched its Moscow hub to Moscow International Airport Domodedovo, and also the terminal used by oneworld member airlines and AiRUnion on 30-Mar-08.
