Virgin Atlantic Airways announced it has appointed Dnata Travel as its off line General Sales Agent in the State of Kuwait.

Lufthansa, SWISS and Travelport GDS have signed a long-term, full content agreement. It will run until the end of 2011 and will give all travel agencies worldwide that make bookings via the global distribution systems (GDS), Galileo, and Worldspan, access to all Lufthansa and SWISS published fares and inventory. Moreover, all the participating travel agencies in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein that subscribe to Galileo and Worldspan will be able to book Preferred Fares with Lufthansa and SWISS without the imposition of any surcharge.

SWISS customers will be able to travel on an electronic ticket to any SWISS destination from 01-Jun-08 onwards. The extended facility should soon make paperless tickets the norm for all travellers throughout the SWISS network.

IATA’s latest report on international traffic, for the month of April, continues a very gloomy tone, as growth slows across the world and load factors trend remorselessly downwards “the clearest sign that airlines have been facing a faster than anticipated slowdown since the start of the year.”
