Italian Government reportedly plans to establish guidelines for the sale of Alitalia this week, permitting Bruno Ermolli, the Italian businessman selected by Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, to establish a consortium to rescue the carrier, to perform due diligence and prepare an offer (Reuters, 27-May-08). A new CEO may also be announced for the carrier this week.

Air Berlin announced (27-May-08) plans to reduce Duesseldorf-Shanghai frequency from five to three times weekly, effective late Jun-08.

Flybe announced plans to increase capacity on Inverness-Manchester and Inverness-Southampton services, by upgrading the aircraft used on the routes to a 78-seat Q400, doubling the capacity on the routes (crainsmanchesterbusiness.co.uk, 27-May-08).

Air Berlin is reducing the number of its flights between Düsseldorf and Shanghai from the end of June. From July onwards there will only be three flights a week, rather than five. The outbound flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the inbound flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays.
