SWITZERLAND : Embraer delivered the first Embraer 190 jet to Swiss carrier, Flybaboo SA, on 30-Apr-08. Flybaboo, which previously flew a dedicated turboprop fleet, will commence operating the Embraer 190 in 2008 under a leasing agreement with M1 Travel Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lebanon’s M1 Group.

SPAIN : Iberia is strengthening its presence in Guatemala and Panama, with the launch of its fourth weekly flight from Madrid to the capital cities of the two Central American nations on 05-May-08. Iberia will operate the routes with Airbus A340s, both the 260-seat 300s and the 352-seat 600s model.

Air France took delivery of its 50th B777, a B777-300ER, on 03-May-08. The carrier now operates 25 B777-300ERs and 25 B777-200ERs and is scheduled to take delivery of the first B777F later this year.

RUSSIAN FEDERATION : S7 Airlines announced it is renewing its regular flights from Moscow to Varna (Bulgaria) and Simferopol (Ukraine) early in the tourism season. The Moscow-Simferopol-Moscow flight will be operated every day from 26-Apr-08 through 05-Oct-08. S7 Airlines’ flights from Moscow to Varna commenced on 28-Apr-08.

FRANCE : Boeing and Air France has reached a historic milestone with the delivery of Air France's 50th B777. The Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) is Air France’s 25th of that model type and joins a fleet of another 25 B777-200ERs that together comprise the core of the airline's long-haul fleet.

Four Irish airlines have formed a new consultation committee, the Dublin Airport Capex Consultation Committee, in response to the Dublin Airport Authority’s (DAA’s) failure in the past to properly consult with users or to meet their reasonable requirements in terms of facilities at Dublin Airport. The Dublin Airport Capex Consultation Committee (DACC) comprises representatives from Aer Arann, Aer Lingus, CityJet and Ryanair.

UNITED KINGDOM : Flybe reports that Britain remains the top destination choice for UK travellers looking for affordable short breaks, confirming passenger numbers are up 19.5% over the 2007 holiday period. The airline is gearing up for a busy Bank Holiday weekend, the most popular route being between Belfast City and Manchester.

Aeroflot signed (01-May-08) an agreement with Panasonic Avionics for eX2 in-flight entertainment systems to be installed in ten A330s this year. Aeroflot has also signed a contract with Teledyne Controls for its Class 2 Electronic service Bags (EFB) for the carrier’s fleet of 56 A320s and B767s.
