Embraer delivered the first EMBRAER 190 jet, today, to Mozambique flag carrier LAM †Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique, during a ceremony held at Embraer’s headquarters in Sao José dos Campos, Brazil. The deal was announced in October 2008 and includes firm orders for two EMBRAER 190s, plus two purchase rights.

Jetlink Express, a Kenyan domestic and regional airline, based at Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, will become the first Kenyan operator of the BAe 146 regional jet when it takes delivery in mid-July of a Series 100 aircraft that it is leasing from Albanian Airlines.

Royal Air Maroc and Air France Industries signed a share holder agreement to create a Joint Venture MRO platform at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport. The Joint Venture (JV) will be owned 50/50 by both companies and be managed jointly.

Virgin Atlantic announced (18-Feb-09) two new senior international appointments in South Africa and Nigeria. Richard Myerscough starts this week as Country Manager for South Africa, based in Johannesburg. Richard will be responsible for the airline’s South African operation, which includes a daily service between Johannesburg and London Heathrow, and a seasonal service between London Heathrow and Cape Town from October through to April.
