Willem Hondius, Chief Commercial Officer said, “The Danish market is attractive. We see many opportunities on the charter market as well as the Danish market for regularly scheduled flights, especially for routes that appeal to tourists.”

AUSTRIA : Austrian cargo and Ukraine International have passed another milestone in the expansion of their air cargo connection between Vienna and Kiev. A Boeing 737-300SF cargo-only aircraft put into service recently by the Ukrainian carrier begins operating the route immediately.

Demavia airlines will offer a weekly Thursday flight from Brussels direct to Kinshasa. The new scheduled service will be operated with a leased Cargolux B747-400 Freighter aircraft. It will serve Kinshasa and the central African market directly from Brussels airport.

GERMANY : Air Berlin announced it will be operating non-stop flights to the Azores for the first time starting with the Winter schedule 2008/09. From 03-Nov-08, a weekly Air Berlin flight to the Azores will take off every Monday via Nuremberg. Feeder flights to Nuremberg are available from 12 German cities (Berlin, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Dresden, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Leipzig-Halle, Hamburg, Hanover, Cologne-Bonn, Münster-Osnabrück, Paderborn) and also from Vienna. Passengers will arrive in the capital of the Azores, Ponta Delgada, on São Miguel. Air Berlin is the only German airline that operates non-stop flights to the Azores.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES : Etihad Airways will become the first airline from the Gulf region to operate to Belarus when the Abu Dhabi-based carrier launches its twice weekly flights to the country’s capital, Minsk, on 05-Aug-08.

Air Mauritius launched a series of weekly flights from Madrid on 17-Jun-08 with A340 equipment. This direct flight will operate every week until Oct-08, providing close to an additional 11,000 seats for the market to develop.

GERMANY : Southwest Florida International Airport is offering passengers easier access to Europe this Summer with the help of Air Berlin. Air Berlin, which recently acquired LTU, resumed its twice-weekly non-stop service to Munich, Germany, from Southwest Florida International Airport in May-08. A third weekly non-stop flight to Düsseldorf will be added to Air Berlin’s schedule on 24-Jun-08. These flights offer passengers more flexibility and the ability to connect to major European travel destinations, including Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Zurich and London.

GERMANY : Air Berlin‮’‬s services too Russia for the coming Winter season of 2008/2009 have been made available for booking by the carrier from 12-Jun-08. ‬A Saturday flight will be added to the route from Berlin to Moscow when the winter timetable comes into operation‭. ‬This means that there will be a daily non-stop flight from Berlin-Tegel to Moscow in the winter‭. ‬From Düsseldorf and Munich there will be a service six times a week‭ (‬every day except for Saturday or Sunday respectively‭) ‬to Moscow-Domodedovo airport‭. ‬Air Berlin also operates daily non-stop flights from Berlin-Tegel to St‭. ‬Petersburg‭.‬

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES : Etihad Airways is set to boost its Summer Geneva service from 22-Jun-08, as a result of increased demand from leisure travellers wishing to visit Switzerland’s second biggest city. Etihad currently operates four flights a week from its Abu Dhabi home-base to Geneva which will increase to five a week with an additional flight operating every Sunday until 07-Sep-08.

FRANCE : Air France launched its new non-stop Paris-Charles de GaulleSalt Lake City service on 02-Jun-08. The flight is operated by a Delta Air Lines’ Boeing 767-300ER, equipped with 36 seats in BusinessElite and 178 seats in Economy. The flight is operated on a codeshare basis by Air France and Delta.

JAPAN : Japan Airlines (JAL) commenced offering twice-daily codeshare flights operated by British Airways (BA) between Manchester and London (Heathrow) from 03-Jun-08. The expanded codeshare agreement adds Manchester to JAL's Japan-Europe network by providing connections from the UK city onto daily services operated by JAL between London-Tokyo (Narita) and London-Osaka (Kansai).

American Airlines launched its first flight from the United States to Russia on 02-Jun-08. American Airlines, a founding member of the oneworld Alliance becomes the first US airline to operate directly out of Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport.

Delta Air Lines commenced non-stop service between Salt Lake City International Airport and Paris Charles de Gaulle International Airport on 02-Jun-08. The flights, operating as part of Delta’s joint venture with SkyTeam partner, Air France, will be the first trans-Atlantic service offered by any airline from Salt Lake City and will be the only non-stop service operated by a US carrier between the Western United States and Paris. Delta will operate the daily service with a Boeing 767-300ER aircraft seating up to 216 passengers.

FINLAND : Finnair launched its non-stop flights to Seoul on 02-Jun-08. The inaugural flight departed from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport at 17:30. Seoul is Finnair’s eleventh destination in Asia. Finnair is the only airline operating non-stop from South Korea to Northern Europe. The flight time from Helsinki to Seoul is 8 hours and 55 minutes. The route completes Finnair’s Asian network and supports the important status of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport as a hub for traffic between Europe and Asia.

GERMANY : Air Berlin is reducing the number of its flights between Düsseldorf and Shanghai from the end of June. From July onwards there will only be three flights a week, rather than five. The outbound flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, the inbound flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Mondays.

Czech Airlines is planning direct flights between Prague and Florida, in the United States. The plan to introduce this new connection has been approved by the Airline’s Management Board, with the commencement of operations being conditioned on the cancellation of the visa requirement for Czech citizens, which is expected later this year.

ITALY : Air One announced it is launching its first intercontinental flights between the US and Italy, with the launch of its non-stop flights from Boston and Chicago to Milan, the industrial and financial heart of Italy, as well as the point of departure to some of Northern Italy’s top destinations including Turin, Verona, Lake Como and the Alps.

UK regional airline, Eastern Airways launched its first direct international service from Newcastle International Airport with non-stop flights to Stavanger on 12-May-08. Newcastle’s most punctual scheduled airline* provides a daily weekday service from the north east of England to Norway’s fourth largest city, which was named European Capital of Culture 2008.

SWISS inaugurated its new daily service between Switzerland and Shanghai on 09-May-08, when flight LX 188 departed from Zurich at 13:05 operated by an Airbus A340. The passengers aboard the first flight included Swiss Federal Councillor and Minister for Economic Affairs Doris Leuthard. The inaugural ceremony in Zurich prior to departure was attended by H.E. Dong Jinyi, China's Ambassador to Switzerland, Thomas E. Kern, CEO of airport operator, Unique, and Rolf P. Jetzer, Chairman of the Board of Swiss International Air Lines. The flight's boarding was formally opened by SWISS CEO, Christoph Franz, together with Federal Councillor Leuthard.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines stated it will give its slot time operation to Kenya Airways, commencing 29-Apr-08 to 30-May-08. The extra operation by Kenya Airways is prompted by the fact that KLM is in the process of servicing their Boeing B747 fleet, which creates a shortage of aircraft availability within the KLM network. This means that Kenya Airways will now operate a total of ten weekly flights to and from Amsterdam during this period.

FINLAND : Finnair announced plans to launch flights from Helsinki to the city of Yekaterinburg in the Urals region of Russia, commencing early-Sep-08. The route will be served three times a week with Airbus A319 aircraft. The flight time will be just three hours, with connections in both directions.

UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways announced it is boosting services from London to New York JFK by launching daily flights from Gatwick on 27-Oct-08. The new flights mean that the airline will operate 62 flights each week from the capital to JFK as the Gatwick flights will operate in addition to its current 55 weekly flights from Heathrow.

GERMANY : Lufthansa announced the launch of its daily non-stop service between Calgary and Frankfurt. Lufthansa's Calgary-Frankfurt service was last offered in the 1980s. It is the only airline in Calgary to offer first class amenities and services to Continental Europe.

ICELAND : Iceland Express announced plans to commence a new Gatwick service, operating a five times weekly service between London Gatwick and Reykjavik from 16-Sep-08. The new Gatwick service will complement Iceland Express’ Stansted Winter 2008 Schedule, which includes a daily service between London Stansted and Reykjavik. Iceland Express will be operating the new Gatwick service on the Boeing 737- 700 aircraft with 148 seats of sister company, FlyStar/Astraeus.
