Aer Lingus celebrated a milestone having recorded over one million bookings on aerlingus.com for the month of March. The airline's website experienced a huge surge in bookings during March with the highest number of daily visitors recorded on 10-Mar-2009 when almost 250,000 visitors logged on to aerlingus.com to avail of the massive Summer Sale, which offered 30% off fares on every seat, on every flight, to all destinations to the UK and Europe for travel this summer.

Aer Lingus and United Airlines announced (22-Jan-09) an extension of their relationship on select long haul services between Europe and North America. This partnership will capitalise on the growth opportunities presented by the Open Skies agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United States (US) by opening new transatlantic non-stop services.

Aer Lingus notes the offer and will make a statement in due course. In the meantime, Aer Lingus shareholders are strongly urged to take no action.

CFM International has awarded (25-Nov-08) the TRUEngineTM designation to a total of 70 new and overhauled CFM56-5B engines in the Aer Lingus fleet. TRUEngineTM is a product of CFM International (CFM), a 50/50 joint company of Snecma (SAFRAN Group) and General Electric Company.

Aer Lingus is to reduce its long haul fuel surcharges by up to 20% on all tickets booked for flights between Ireland and the US with immediate effect. The fuel surcharge reduction represents a decrease of up to EUR20/USD40 per sector and comes as a result of the recent decrease in international oil prices.

Aer Lingus announced (28-Oct-08) plans to introduce nine new routes for summer 2009 from Ireland to the UK and Europe. New services, which are on sale, include Dublin to Catania in Sicily, Sofia and Newcastle, Cork to Lanzarote, Lisbon and Rennes, and from Belfast to Milan, Munich and Lanzarote.

Aer Lingus and United Airlines have begun a codesharing agreement enabling United customers to book connecting flights on Aer Lingus’ network for travel from 01-Nov-08. From Apr-09 Aer Lingus will place its code on United Airlines domestic flights.

(XFN Asia) Aer Lingus Group Plc announced it has taken a further step towards cutting its aircraft maintenance bill by more than EUR20 million by signing deals with maintenance contractor SR Technics. Aer Lingus has concluded contracts with SR Technics Ireland Ltd for line activities in Dublin related to most of its Airbus A320/321 and A330 aircraft. Maintenance services under these new arrangements will commence from 06-Jul-08.

(XFN Asia) Aer Lingus Group Plc announced higher revenues and passenger numbers in the first four months of 2008, but forecast first half operating losses due to soaring oil prices, a slowing global economy and the weakness of the US dollar and sterling. Aer Lingus stated total revenues increased by 10.3% during the first four months of 2008 compared to the same period in 2007.

BELFAST International Airport has welcomed the arrival of three new routes as Aer Lingus announced its winter schedule for 2008/09. Munich, Milan and Lanzarote have been added to the network out of Belfast bringing to 34, the number of direct scheduled international destinations available from the international airport.

Aer Lingus is to increase its long haul fuel surcharge on routes to the US, effective from 14-May-08. The increase is as a direct result of the record upsurge in the price of oil in recent weeks and the airline's rising fuel bill. No fuel surcharge is applied on any of the 82 short haul routes operated by Aer Lingus.

Aer Lingus Group announced that it has now concluded a contract with Lufthansa Technik AG for components maintenance of its A320 and A330 Aircraft. Maintenance services under this new contract will commence from 01-Nov-08 and will be primarily provided in Germany.

Aer Lingus entered into a codeshare agreement with United Airlines on 08-Apr-08, enabling booking on each other's flights from 01-Nov-08. The codeshare agreement was signed by Aer Lingus CEO, Dermot Mannion, and United Airlines CEO, Glenn Tilton, in Chicago.
