As part of the Finnair Group's structural development, as of 1 December 2009 the Group's ground handling company Northport has agreed a transfer of business with the Barona Group in terms of its baggage and apron services at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. Around 490 employees currently working in these operations will transfer to the service of Barona under their present terms of employment.

Finnair launched its non-stop flights to Seoul on 02-Jun-08. The inaugural flight departed from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport at 17:30. Seoul is Finnair’s eleventh destination in Asia. Finnair is the only airline operating non-stop from South Korea to Northern Europe. The flight time from Helsinki to Seoul is 8 hours and 55 minutes. The route completes Finnair’s Asian network and supports the important status of Helsinki-Vantaa Airport as a hub for traffic between Europe and Asia.
