UNITED KINGDOM : Boeing (NYSE: BA) and British Airways today announced that the airline will feature Boeing's Airplane Health Management (AHM) system to monitor the in-flight condition of more than 100 Boeing twin-aisle jetliners. AHM will be used on the airline's current 777 and 747-400 fleets and future deliveries, including 787 Dreamliners.

UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways reported May 2008 passenger capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometres, was 1.3% above May 2007. Traffic, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres, fell by 0.7% year-on-year. This resulted in a passenger load factor decrease of 1.5 ppts year-on-year to 71.8%. Traffic comprised a 0.9% decrease in premium traffic and a 0.6% fall in non-premium traffic. Cargo, measured in Cargo Tonne Kilometres, rose by 2.7%.

UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways stated that claims that customers can no longer use driver’s licences when checking in for domestic flights is nonsense. Valid identity documents and passports are also accepted when checking in. Customers flying to other countries on regional or international flights will, however, still need to carry a valid passport, complete with any visas that are required.

UNITED KINGDOM : (XFN Asia) OpenSkies, a new transatlantic upmarket airline set up by British Airways, state that it has received approval from the US Department of Transport to launch flights between New York and Paris from Jun-08. UNITED KINGDOM : British Airways announced it is boosting services from London to New York JFK by launching daily flights from Gatwick on 27-Oct-08. The new flights mean that the airline will operate 62 flights each week from the capital to JFK as the Gatwick flights will operate in addition to its current 55 weekly flights from Heathrow.

UNITED KINGDOM : AerCap Holdings announced that its subsidiary, AeroTurbine, entered into a component purchase and sale agreement and a component lease agreement with British Airways. Under the agreements, AeroTurbine will purchase British Airways’ entire stock of wheels and brakes for the Boeing 737, 757, 767, 777, and 747-400 and will lease the same back to British Airways for a period of between six years and ten years, in line with British Airways’ fleet renewal plans.
