SPAIN : Iberia will increase its flights to some Latin American and U.S. destinations during the Christmas holiday period with additional frequencies to Bogota, Caracas, Montevideo and New York.

SPAIN : Spain’s AENOR standards bureau has awarded its first-ever certificate for a reduction of CO2 emissions to Iberia Airlines. The certificate attests to the reduction of emissions on the Spanish flag carrier’s walk-on air shuttle service between Madrid and Barcelona, thanks to the application of measures to improve efficiency.

La oficina española de estandarización, AENOR, acaba de acreditar a Iberia con el certificado de reducción de emisiones de CO2. Este certificado acredita que la compañía de bandera española ha reducido las emisiones en la ruta entre Madrid y Barcelona gracias a las medidas de renovación de eficacia adoptadas.

SPAIN : In July, Iberia will fly to Zagreb, operating return flights on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the Summer. The carrier expects to carry some 5,000 passengers on the route. Iberia will also offer flights between Madrid and Dubrovnik, as it did for the first time last Summer.

SPAIN : In response to the growing weakness in demand, Iberia carried out additional adjustments in the schedule that led to a capacity reduction of 7.7%. Traffic (RPK) decreased by 10.6% and the load factor stood at 77.1% (2.5 points down on last year) improving its performance with respect to September and October.

SPAIN : Iberia announced (26-Nov-08) it is adding 10 new U.S. destinations to its network, after extending its code-sharing arrangements with American Airlines. Iberia passengers can now fly on to Albuquerque, Buffalo, Baltimore, Charlotte, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Pittsburgh, Richmond, Rochester, and San Antonio, in connection with the Spanish airline’ flights to Chicago’s O’Hare airport.

SPAIN : Starting on 15-Jan-09, Iberia is to add a sixth weekly return flight between Madrid and Montevideo, enabling passengers to fly between Europe and Uruguay any day of the week except Thursdays. Iberia is the only European airline with direct flights to Uruguay.

SPAIN : Iberia has refitted its maintenance hangars for painting aircraft to improve and extend its services to its own airplanes, as well as to those of other carriers. The 2,900sqm hangar is equipped for stripping, sanding, painting and drying the paint on aircraft following major overhauls, and also for painting new aircraft before they enter service.

SPAIN : Iberia has marked its first anniversary of first flight from Madrid to Warsaw and to Prague. In this period the Iberia has carried more than 54,000 passengers on the Madrid-Warsaw route, with a cabin occupancy rate of 78.16%.

SPAIN : Iberia’s first flight to Dubrovnik departed from Madrid Airport’s Terminal 4 on 07-Jun-08 with a load factor of more than 85%. Iberia will operate three weekly frequencies to Croatia’s Dubrovnik from July to September, while it will offer two flights a week in June and October. Iberia is the only airline operating directly from Madrid to Dubrovnik. Iberia expects to carry over 14,000 passengers on the route. The aircraft to be used on the route are Airbus A320s, equipped with a Business Class section.

SPAIN : Iberia’s first-quarter results, which the airline presented to Spain’s securities market commission (CNMV), were dulled by the sharp hikes in the price of aviation fuel, which translated into an additional cost of €66.8 million over the amount spent in the same quarter of 2007.

SPAIN : Iberia has completed its first exhaustive C-check on an Airbus A-330/300 belonging to the Iberworld company at its Madrid maintenance hangar. The inspection came under the extended maintenance agreement between the two companies. For more than six years Iberia Maintenance has provided inspection and major maintenance services to Iberworld’s Airbus fleet.

SPAIN : Iberia is strengthening its presence in Guatemala and Panama, with the launch of its fourth weekly flight from Madrid to the capital cities of the two Central American nations on 05-May-08. Iberia will operate the routes with Airbus A340s, both the 260-seat 300s and the 352-seat 600s model.

SPAIN : Iberia has signed a contract, under which it will repair and maintain CFM56-7B engines used on Air Europa’s fleet of 33 Boeing 737-800, at the installations of Iberia Maintenance in Madrid. This contract, that has a five-year term, is the latest in a series of new agreements, which Iberia has recently reached with carriers such as Eurofly-Meridiana, Pluna, Privilege, Olympic Airways, Conviasa, Air Comet and Aurora Airlines, among others.
