Liverpool John Lennon Airport played (30-Mar-09) host to guests and passengers celebrating the start of the new KLM service to Amsterdam Schiphol which now links Liverpool with hundreds of destinations across the world, for the first time in almost 70 years.

With effect of 31-Dec-08, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will have full ownership of Martinair. KLM and the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group have agreed on the sale of A.P. Moller - Maersk Group’s 50% stake in Martinair to KLM, which transaction was cleared by the European Commission. KLM had already held a 50% stake in Martinair for many years.

KLM is to increase the number of daily flights between Helsinki and Amsterdam to four starting on 29-Mar-09. The new flight will depart at 9.10 from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and arrive in Amsterdam at 10.50.

The oil price having fallen during a significant period, Air France and KLM are withdrawing
the most recent fuel surcharge increases, in accordance with their commitments. Air France: EUR 2 per segment on domestic flights.
