For VIP aircraft, small charter and scheduled airlines Lufthansa Technik and the US service provider eJet Services have agreed to broaden their relationship to include comprehensive support for smaller scheduled airlines worldwide as well as new aircraft types. This will expand their existing joint program of comprehensive maintenance and operating support for private VIP-converted Bombardier CRJ aircraft.

The Unite trade union, as part of the employee works council, expects to meet with management of Lufthansa Technik Airmotive in the coming days to hold further talks arising out of yesterday’s staff rejection of a Labour Court recommendation on changed work practices and this evening’s issuing of protective notice to workers at Rathcoole.

Italian charter airline Livingston Energy Flight has engaged Lufthansa Technik to overhaul its long-haul Airbus A330 fleet. The comprehensive C-checks will be carried out between May and September in Lufthansa Technik Malta’s recently opened new hangar complex. This makes Livingston the second launch customer after Lufthansa for Lufthansa Technik’s new, state-of-the-art European over-haul base for Airbus long-haul aircraft.

With the opening of the new facility and significant expansion of its operations, Lufthansa Technik Malta is extending the range of the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services it provides for short-haul and long-haul aircraft.

In 2009, Lufthansa Technik will significantly increase the number of training positions. 24 young men and women will begin their apprenticeship in Hamburg in summer 2009. The training lasts three and a half years, during which the apprentices get to know a wide a range of materials, machines and tasks, using conventional machine tools and computer-based counterparts.

NORWAY :
Lufthansa Technik and Norwegian Air Shuttle have signed an agreement for overhaul services on more than 100 engines. According to the new contract, Lufthansa Technik will take care of the CFM56-7B engines for all 53 aircraft of Norwegian´s 737NG fleet and further seven spare engines.
