As previously indicated, Mar-2009 saw a further marked deterioration in the operating environment. Despite an almost 3% reduction in capacity, traffic declined by 9.4%, affecting all the networks. This decline was accompanied by a significant deterioration in unit revenues. The load factor was down by 5.5 points to 75.5%. The group carried 5.6 million passengers (-9.8%).

Hawaiian Airlines announced (02-Feb-09) that it has signed interline e-ticketing agreements with Air France and Virgin Blue of Australia. Customers of Air France and Virgin Blue with flight connections on Hawaiian can buy a single e-ticket, check in once at the originating departure airport, receive boarding passes at the departure gate of any connecting transpacific or interisland flight, and pick up their luggage at the final destination.
