LAN Ecuador launches first domestic flights: oneworld® now offers domestic flights in a fourth South American country, with affiliate member LAN Ecuador launching internal services in its home market. It is now linking its two hubs Guayaquil and Quito with seven Airbus A318 flights a day. Later it will connect both gateways with Cuenca and the Galapagos Islands.

24-Apr-09 Air Berlin landed at Oslo Airport for its first departure for Berlin-Tegel. The route will have six weekly departures, Monday through Friday and Sunday. Air Berlin will use the A319 aircraft on the route.

Aer Arann is to re-introduce its Cork †Jersey route for the summer beginning on 30-May-09. The service, which was launched in 2007 was suspended over the winter months but the airline has confirmed that the route will operate from the end of May through to October 2009

Air Astana, the flag carrier of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has launched a new service linking Almaty to Baku, the capital of neighbouring Azerbaijan. Flights commenced on (29-March-09), with twice weekly services now operating on Wednesdays and Sundays. The flight time between Almaty and Baku is three hours.

Since launch the airline has carried over 8.7 million passengers to and from the airport.
