London Luton Airport is delighted to announce the arrival of Blue Air with flights to Bacau, Romania. Another new airline for the Airport and more choice for passengers. Commencing 01-Jun-09, the Romanian based airline will further expand the London Luton Airport route network into Romania with twice weekly services to/from Bacau Airport. Offering low fares and flying a Boeing 737 jet aircraft, Blue Air expects the London Luton flights to be a resounding success.

GERMANY : The Supervisory Board of the Lufthansa Group approved the order for 30 short-haul aircraft in its meeting on 10-Mar-09. The Bombardier CSeries Aircraft will be used by Lufthansa’s subsidiary, Swiss International Air Lines, and will be ready for the fleet as of 2014. The new aircraft will replace the existing Avro RJ100 short-haul aircraft.

The 7X offers the most range and cabin size of any business jet permitted to fly from London City Airport and links the heart of one of the world’s largest financial centres with nonstop access to the United States, Europe and the Middle East.

Aeroflot - Russian Airlines received (24-Feb-09) the 27th А320 craft by Airbus. At the moment, Aeroflot’s fleet includes 49 crafts from the A319/320/321 family. The new aircraft was named after V. Obrutchev, a famous Russian geologist, geographer and science fiction writer.

Ryanair confirmed (05-Feb-09) that the Government’s new EUR10 travel tax is already having a damaging impact on forward bookings from 30-Mar next. This EUR10 tourist tax, which has already caused traffic declines in the UK and Holland when previously introduced, is devastating forward bookings in Shannon, because in many cases it exceeds the air fare paid by many passengers on Ryanair’s low fares routes from Shannon.

KOREA REPUBLIC OF : Korean Air placed firm orders with Airbus for two more double-deck A380 aircraft. This latest purchase agreement brings the total number of A380s ordered by Korean Air to ten aircraft. The carrier will operate the aircraft in a three-class layout on routes linking Seoul to destinations in North America and Europe, including Los Angeles, New York and Paris.

Air Berlin stated (27-Jan-09) its new B737-700 aircraft became the 35,000th aircraft registered by the LBA (German Federal Aviation Office). The new Boeing 737-700 with the code D-ABLD has been entered in the official German aviation register.

SAS introduced (19-Jan-09) the new next generation CRJ900 aircraft on its service from Birmingham to Copenhagen. The NextGen CRJ900, produced by Bombardier, is the most fuel efficient in its class.

Air Austral has signed (15-Jan-09) a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for the purchase of two A380s in a single-class configuration. In a single-class configuration the aircraft will seat around 840 passengers in economy class seats.

Embraer announced the sale of the first Embraer 195 jet to Montenegro Airlines. The agreement with the airline from the Republic of Montenegro also includes purchase rights for two more aircraft of the same model.

IRELAND : Ryanair announced the postponement of the basing of its seventh aircraft at Bergamo by four weeks. The deferral of the aircraft from its original date of the 01-Oct-08 to a new date of 29-Oct is as a result of the strike by Boeing employees in Seattle which has resulted in the indefinite delay of the shipment of new aircraft to Ryanair.

Ryanair announced the postponement of the opening of its Reus base by five weeks. The deferral of the opening from its original date of the 01-Oct-08 to a new date of 05-Nov-08 is as a result of the strike by Boeing employees in Seattle which has resulted in the indefinite delay of the shipment of new aircraft to Ryanair.
