Air Berlin announced (22-Jan-09) to reduce its fuel surcharge. From 27-Jan-09, Air Berlin will be charging up to EUR15 less in fuel surcharge per flight. On domestic German and European intercity flights the surcharge per flight will be reduced by EUR5 to EUR20.

Ryanair called (11-Nov-08) on high fare, high fuel surcharging airlines like SAS to scrap their unjustified fuel surcharge to reflect the recent 50% fall in oil prices. Ryanair made the call on the eve of a SAS fuel surcharge reduction of just EUR3 (from EUR10 to EUR7) on domestic, and EUR5 (from EUR15 to EUR10) on international routes.

Aer Lingus is to reduce its long haul fuel surcharges by up to 20% on all tickets booked for flights between Ireland and the US with immediate effect. Transaero Airlines has dropped (28-Oct-08) its fuel surcharges for scheduled flights to Europe. This affects all regular flights from Moscow to Austria, France, Germany, Luxemburg, Spain and the United Kingdom as well as flights from St. Petersburg to Germany and Spain.
